input lag ps/2 mouse

Hi i have a system g41m es2l board with 2.93ghz dual core pentium i set it up with a microsoft ps2 wmo mouse & ps2 keyboard.. but when playing quake live there is lots of input lag, it feels like you are sliding on ice.
If u plug the mouse into usb it seems the issue dissappeared, this happens on xp and win7.. idea? I was thinking upgrade bios?

The polling rate on a PS/2 port is rather low compared to that through USB, so recommended course of action is to use the USB port rather and stick to PS/2 for the keyboard only.
