Weeks ago, I thought I had settled on wanting to throw some money at a new, pre-built "gaming" system:

http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3751350/gaming-build-gtx-1080-11gb-gpu.html

Since, then, I've done plenty of more research, and with some help of some buddies, I'm determined to build my own rig once again (I've been out of the loop for far too long).

As detailed in the title, I'm trying to stay at/around (and ideally, below) that $2000 range. This includes the monitor and other peripherals, as well. It'll be tight.

I believe I've read that there will be new GPU announcements for Q3-Q4 this year, and if I can wait, I should wait. I prefer to get this thing off the ground sooner than later, but I'm not necessarily opposed to waiting a few more weeks if we can circle a date concretely (not sure that's the case, however, so I press onward).

Below is what I'm looking at as things currently stand. Please let me know what I'm missing, or overlooking, etc.:

CPU:
Intel Core i7-8700K
https://www.amazon.com/Intel-BX80684I78700K-Core-i7-8700K-Processor/dp/B07598VZR8/

These feels like the go-to (still).

Motherboard:
Gigabyte Z370XP SLI
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0764NX8DR/

Another model I've seen thrown around consistently. There are a lot of options here, of course, so I'm open to suggestions if I've completely botched this selection.

GPU:
1070 vs 1080
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076S4RH6K/
https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Scanner-Graphics-08G-P4-5671-KR/dp/B076S4RH6K
https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-GAMING-GDDR5X-Technology/dp/B07417FZS6
https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-GAMING-GDDR5X-Technology/dp/B06Y15DWXR/
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y11DFZ3
https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-GAMING-GDDR5X-Technology/dp/B06Y13N2B6

This is obviously where I'm most torn.

Realistically, the 1070 Ti is where my budget will lead me. And I think there's plenty of power there, as well. I'll be playing (mainly) World of Warcraft, but some of the newer games interest me as well. 1080 will do me well in that regard, and also keep me relatively ahead of the curve (or at least not too far behind) with new models forthcoming.

I also have the 1070 "ultra silent" model linked above, as that is important to me as well (and not huge difference money-wise).

Memory:
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB
https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-CMK16GX4M2B3200C16-Vengeance-DDR4-Memory/dp/B0143UM4TC

I was originally considering 32gb, but the more I read, I'm not sure that it'll really be of much use to me (no high-end video editing etc. for me). There are a ton of RAM choices. This one had good reviews (and I'm a CORSAIR fan). Let me know if I should consider any others?

SSD:
Crucial MX500 1TB
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0784SY515

This feels like the latest and greatest/most bang for your buck.

HD:
WD Blue 1TB
https://www.amazon.com/Blue-Desktop-Hard-Disk-Drive/dp/B0088PUEPK/

Do people still buy internal HD's?

Power Supply:
Quiet matters.

https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Modular-Warranty-Supply-210-GQ-0650-V1/dp/B017HA3SQ8
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07793TFW8
https://www.amazon.com/Seasonic-Platinum-SSR-650PX-Modular-Warranty/dp/B074N8RG74

Few choices here, as well. The ~$100 model is notably quiet, from what I've read?

Cooling:
Keeping with the quiet theme...

https://www.amazon.com/CRYORIG-Tower-Cooler-Intel-CPUs/dp/B00S7YA5FQ
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M6CR4GH
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C9FLSLY

Leaning toward the Noctua, just given the name/reputation?

Case:
Simple/minimalist meets quiet/quiet elegance.

Personal preference; leaning toward one of the CORSAIR ones (275R). The Fractal Design one is cool as well, but pricier.

https://www.amazon.com/CORSAIR-CARBIDE-SPEC-05-Mid-Tower-Gaming/dp/B07BH23K53
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DHNPL3N
https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Carbide-Quiet-Compact-Mid-Tower/dp/B017XPPECI
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00RORBQSW
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01F97W9ZM
https://www.amazon.com/CORSAIR-CARBIDE-Mid-Tower-Window-Panel/dp/B01M35FI12
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075J5TKW7
https://www.amazon.com/Fractal-Design-Define-Gaming-FDCADEFR5BK/dp/B00Q2Z11QE

Monitor:
Going 34" curved.

This LG stands out and makes sense from a performance/price-point:

LG 34UC79G-B 34-Inch 21:9 Curved UltraWide IPS Gaming Monitor
https://www.amazon.com/LG-34UC79G-B-34-Inch-21-UltraWide/dp/B01LW5CGIS

Considering these other two, but the ASUS is more than what my budget will allow, I think, unfortunately:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074JKT894

Thanks in advance for taking a look. Looking forward to the replies.

Cheers.

Personally, I would go with a 2700x based build, for better multithreaded capability.
