Insalling Windows 7 onto SSD

I did the same thing, but with the 250GB version of the EVO. (It's a great drive)

First off, Samsung has a good software for cloning your data to your new drive.

This will allow you to migrate your OS and other data to the new SSD.

BUT, it's important to note, cloning your OS is the lazy way out and may not be 100% stable. It is always recommended to do a fresh install onto your new SSD and then transfer over any data you may have.

So, let's begin (with the Fresh install process)

1. Go into BIOS and change boot priority to a DVD
2. Unplug current drive.
3. Plug in new SSD
4.Boot up computer and put Windows install disk into the disk drive.
5. An option should be given to install Windows.
6. Install Windows
7. After booting up you should be good to go! Go Back into Bios and change boot priority to your new drive.
8. Plug in old drive (HDD or whatever you had previously) and you should be able to copy over any files you would like from the old drive to the new drive.

congrats! You're done.

Beware, it is always recommended to do a FULL BACKUP OF YOUR DATA before messing around with your drives.

What I did with my PC was install windows (as steps show above), then format my 1TB HDD and then copy over all of my data from an external HDD that I used to back my data up to. This will ensure that windows OS is completely erased from the old drive and it can be used strictly as storage. (Or atleast that's how mine is set up.)

I don't have a disk only the windows key.

Well, your going to need a disk or USB to install windows.

I don't condone piracy, but you can find Windows OS online to download and install.
