Insane Boost Speeds?

Hi, I have a Core i7 950 Bloomfield running at stock speeds. I was checking my temperatures with HWMonitor when i noticed that my CPU was boosting to 5.9 ghz on core 0 and 3.9 on core 2, with a solid 3.4 on 1 and 3. Is this a misreading? I also would like some ram help. I have a Gigabyte GA-x58a-UD3R, and my ram is detected within windows as a 400 MHz set, and as unknown RAM. Thanks!

That is a software misreport. I don't think Bloomfield can hit 6 GHz even under extreme cooling.

OKay, thats fine, it just that it was reading the same in task manager, and core temp. is my motherboard failing?

Use CPU-Z to check that turbo boost. I find it very odd that your CPU would actually do that, unless you changed something in the BIOS.

400mhz on the RAM is normal. The reason why it says 400mhz is because of something called Quad Pumping.... Multiply that 400mhz x 4 (hence quad in quad pumped) and you get your rated memory speed.

Okay i was really worried that my motherboard was defective or something and i was going to have to go back to my A8 7600 8 8Gb system.
