Question Insane lag, mouse moves fine, but task manager says nothing is struggling performance wise ?

After my computer has been on for approx 10 hours, periodically, it will start to lag REALLY bad. The mouse will move no problem, but clicking things? It'll take 20 seconds for the computer to respond to one click. So going through any window and any options takes a long time. Even opening task manager took forever.

Everything still works, just takes 20 seconds for every single action to happen. But the mouse moves fine as if there's no lag at all.

I was playing mine craft (for some reason Toms sets this as spam?). I have Java set to 5gb of allocated memory. I thought maybe it was a memory leak, so when this happens, I wait the 10 minutes to go through the task manager and close everything that's active. It doesn't stop the lag.

The performance tab of my computer shows things as working fine as well. Though the ethernet performance chart looks like it's being used quite a lot.

What could this be?

Specs
32gb 3600mhz ram
i7 11700k
Nvidia 3060 ti
Windows 11 Home 64 bit

I did a Samsung Magician scan on my m.2 nvme drive and it says all of that looks good.

If further info is needed I'd be happy to provide it.
Event viewer doesn't seem to show much except for the restart warnings.

Getting the CPU-Z stuff now. Here are the imgur links:

If added context matters at all:

I bought (or at least I thought I bought) 2 ram sticks of the exact same type and added them in myself. Though now I see they are different companies and some of the timings are different? I'm unsure of what I'm seeing but-

I put them in 1 2 1 2 form.
Here is the Memory and SPD of each slot.

I've had the extra ram for roughly half a year or so, the problems are only happening now with mine craft.

Something is wrong with your ram configuration.
Can you show screenshots from CPU-Z - memory and spd sections?

Command rate is set to 1T.
Set it to 2T instead. 4 module configuration requires 2T.
Make sure DDR voltage is set to 1.35V.
I'm currently on an Asrock using the UEFI Bios thingy.
I was checking out the bios settings for my ram.

It apparently is already set to 1.35V

The command rate is 1N and has "Auto" to the right of it.
If I try to enter 2N, 2, or 2T or some such thing or otherwise, it resets back to "auto"
Just to clarify, what am I supposed to enter in this textbox? (There's no drop down menu or information on the GUI).
Or am I doing this wrong somehow?

Do you still have pc performance issues?

I will let you know if the issue happens again.
The lag only happened after several hours of gaming.
It may not happen for a while.
Thank you very much for the help and taking your time to help me thus far!

UPDATE:

After 7 hours of the computer being on, unfortunately- It still happens after swapping the memory from T1 to T2. Cpu temps look fine.

I closed all programs that I was using (and waited about 30 seconds per click since that's how bad the lag is).

Closing all of my programs that I was using didn't fix anything.

The "details" of task manager showed Chrome and Steam using a lot of memory, but after closing them, the lag continued, even for 30 minutes.

Processes and all other things weren't even 1% in use. (Memory was 18% max after closing everything).

All of my drivers are up to date.

Event viewer does not show anything at the time of the lag starting.

🙁

The mouse moves fine, with absolutely no lag. All actions though like click input and keyboard input, and opening up other windows etc. All take about 30 seconds per action.

Upon restarting the computer, everything is fine, but... I don't like that I have to force restart it and that it lags this badly. So, if possible- I'd love to find out what it is still 🙁

Look in Resource Monitor and Process Explorer (Microsoft, free).

Look before gaming and check from time to time while gaming.

Objective being to discover what changed when the lagging began.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/process-explorer
Alright.

I've got Process Explorer and Resource Monitor open.

What in each of these am I looking at in particular? Since when it lags I'll want to be able to jump right to what seems weird. Just all of the columns pretty much?

I was in a discord call with a buddy when it started happening again just now while playing that game again. (Mine Craft - can't write the name together or it gets marked as spam)

My CPU usage was 6%.
My RAM was 15%
GPU on Task Manager was 5%

Nothing looks out of the ordinary.

While talking to my friend, he can hear me fine with no lag while this is happening. Not a single thing was wrong with our voice call. BUT- It takes 30 seconds for every single action on my PC. Click a button? 30 seconds later it clicks.

Not sure what to do at this point because ending processes also doesn't seem to help.

How old is this Windows install, and how much of a hassle will it be to back things up and start fresh? Cause that's what you need, at this point. With a clean, properly updated base, it'll be easier to figure out if this is hardware or software.

Unfortunately neither Resource Monitor or Process Explorer will jump right to the problem.

Each tool provides some functions to help filter and sort data. However it is the end user who must watch what is happening to pick out some possible culprit.

Use only one tool at a time will help. Using tools together certainly makes it all more confusing and, if fact, they may be getting in each other's way - so to speak....

Reading back: "I have Java set to 5gb of allocated memory."

Why is Java running and why 5 GB? Allow Windows/Microsoft manage memory.

Do not end any processes unless it is clearly known what the process is doing and that the process is indeed the cause of the problem. All too easy to cause even more problems.

As interim actions try using "dism" and "sfc /scannow" allowing Windows to look for and fix problems.

FYI:

Failing that then, download the mouse drivers directly from the applicable manufacturer's website. Reinstall and reconfigure. No third party tools or installers.

Regarding MineCraft - download source? Could be buggy and need reinstalling.

Or, as mentioned, if the system is seriously corrupted in some manner then a clean reinstall may be necessary.

= = = =

Note: not aware that using "MineCraft" (one word) marks a post as spam. TBD.

Gotcha. I'll keep an eye out on it.
I'm using Mine Craft's java version and it forces you to select an allocation of ram. It's installed straight from the mojang site.
According to your instructions I should leave Mine Craft on when this problem happens? Will try to check out the resource monitors when this happens.

I did dism and sfc /scannow.
Will update if anything happens.

All of the drivers are up to date, and I will reinstall them all. I don't use any third party stuffs. Don't trust them much personally.

This message pops up when I put Mine Craft as one word with the C lower case as the games name is meant to be, and doesn't allow me to post because of this message. When I put a space between them it works again and allows me to post.
