Hey guys.

So last week I started to get really high lag spikes during games, out of nowhere. I've been using the same connection for over a year and everything used to be fine.

My ping is always stable. but after 5 minutes it starts to get up to 7000ms or even a disconnection. This lag will stay for like 30 seconds, and then just dissapears like nothing happened. 5 minutes later, the same thing starts all over again. Nobody is using WiFi in the house.

I have tried restarting/resetting the router. I'm thinking it's maybe an error within the router, or maybe the cable?

It's actually pretty annoying, and if anyone could help it would be really appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

"I've trying for hours to solve this issue... I was about to rma the damn thing...I decided to google one last time until I found this here...Damien, my man...you saved me from a nightmare of a headache, seriously, thank you ! here's what I did :
1) shut down the pc
2) Switch the PSU off
3)Hold the power button on the pc for 15 seconds
5)switch the PSU back on
4)took a deep breath and crossed my fingers
5) instant relieve of my headache as I turned on the pc and it worked !!"
Or your ethernet port had died...

Have you tried every single port? Did you try to see in router did the PC get recognized?

Thanks for your answer!
Will do, going to call them today. And what if it's not their fault? Any suggestions what I could do?

Alright, so I just got a New router and now it's not even connecting to the internet. Ethernet port from the computer giving an orange light. While the one from the router is green

Assuming you have typed your information and password in router, well now go to Device manager and seek for your ethernet adapter and uninstall it, after you fast restart (log out log in) if it doesnt automaticly install it, download from phone your Ethernet driver (under service tab) and install it for your PC (depends on your motherboard model).

What have you changed last when that happened?

So I went to my device manager and uninstalled my ethernet adapter, reinstalled it, still nothing changed. Even after I restarted my computer.

I also can't access my router when I type the IP in the search bar.

I haven't changed anything really. This just happened all of a sudden. It started with occasionally heavy lags, switched router, and now it's not connecting to my computer(it is working on the other computer tho).
