Which type of CPU are you referring to?

Yep, its supposed to sit level in the socket with no pins visible. if one side is up and you applied power it may cause damage to CPU.

Be carefull not to crack the core or chip off the edges installing heat sink while CPU is raised on one side.

I hope your not serious. If u are then there is a good chance you have damages something.

Lets go over the steps in installing a CPU

I will assume your motherboard has the lever next to the socket, If not check your manual.

1 Lift the lever
2 look closely at the chip and the socket on the mother board, u will notice one or two (I can’t remember) of the corners of the CPU is missing pins. The socket has the same thing meaning there is only one way to insert the CPU.
3 once u have oriented the CPU to match the socket insert the CPU. It’s should fall into the socket with no force at all and be fully seated on all sides.
4 lower the lever
5 install the heat sink, don’t ever start a computer without a heatsink.

U might have bent some of the pins on your CPU so I recommend u give em a close inspection.

Hope this helps.
