So I broke my tablet. Start of many a story right? It isn't the first time I've fixed the screen on said tablet which is a digiland 10.1 quad-core. Nice little tablet for my needs! However this time when I replaced the screen something happened that I am having issues fixing. Either I got a bad screen or - well I dunno! I can touch the screen all I want but nothing happens and without warning it starts to just scroll around, moving stuff, etc etc. Ghost touching!

So my question is, because I noticed this while looking around inside. This little tab marked in the picture [ http://tinyurl.com/hczy8cp ], if one of the 'legs' of the tape is broken would that mess with anything? I am not sure what the tape does to be honest but if it is a circuit tape then I figured that could be a problem.

Any information would be lovely and I thank those who read and respond in advance!

Solution
Yes your right that flat thin ribbon cable with the darker etched lines down it if it is part of the screen will be for the digitizer of the screen.

It it has a tear in the connector or one of the darker contacts then it will why when touching the screen it does not sense a finger stroke or touch. It should fit into a connector where you flip a tab up about forty five degrees place the ribbon in and then lock the tab down.

Depending on how bad the tear is, if running across the cable if there is enough length on the cable end and you can see the carbon contact lines you can trim a bit off the end so it has a straight edge again.

As long as all the lined contact fit level in the connector and you can lock it the little tab down flush...

||||||||'- cut across making sure the carbon track tracers touch the tiny pins in the connector, a strait edge and a kraft knife does the trick.

Solution
The thin lines of the tape that look like legs, the one on the left side was completely torn free from the rest of the tape. It took me a bit to get the image from my cell to the computer (don't laugh!) but here http://tinyurl.com/gwgbon3

So you think that is the problem? If so do I have to buy a whole new thing? Because I am not good at soldering 🙁

Edit: Oh wait! I just realized you were talking about something totally different. There is no connector for this. It is just a piece of tape type thing that is sticking to the back side of the panel. It isn't the digitalizer's circuit strip. That is in nice and snug :) The part you are talking about is all the way at the top on the left hand side of the motherboard. The tape-like piece I am speaking of is down below circled in red. Sorry for the confusion!

If it` just a bit of tape with no carbon contacts on it then, it will just be normal sticky tape to hold a ribbon cable down ect.

I would re check all of the ribbons that you did connect with contacts on making sure they are level and seated right in the tiny connector end you flip the locking tab down onto each cable.

The ribbon cable may just be slightly miss aligned. in the connector socket.
Two ribbons should come off the new screen you bought as you know one is for the the video signal to the lcd screen its self and the other is for the digitizer pad to detect finger swipes and presses on screen its self.

May just be slightly mis aligned.
