Inspiron 530 slave drive speeds

why wont my inspiron.530 see mymaxtor diamond max 22 as a slave? its my old hard droive from my broken pc already partioned

Why did you title this "slave drive SPEEDS"?

I just looked up the Maxtor DiamondMax 22. According to what I found, that is a SATA drive. SATA drives don't have "slave" or "master" settings. You just plug the drive into a SATA port.

Troubleshooting list:
1. When you plug in the Maxtor, does it show up in the BIOS? Does your system boot?
2. Have you looked in Device Manager to see if the drive shows up?
3. Have you looked in Disk Management to see if the partitions on the drive are visible? Are they assigned drive letters?
4. Are those drive letters visible in Explorer? Can you see the data on them?
