I have a GT220 that came with this inspiron 546 awhile back. I'm playing games with the nivdia setting physX processor on the CPU since its quad core, and getting decent results only i want a better card than this geforce gt220. Also it is outdated for todays stuff. I just don't know what will fit in or work I have 150-200 budget. So i need a psu and nvidia graphics card please help.

found the spec for my psu

Specifications:
Power Output: 300W

Connectors:
24-Pin ATX Motherboard Power Connector (1)
Serial ATA (SATA) Connector (4)
4 Pin ATX +12V Power Connector (1)
Floppy Drive (FDD) Connector (1)

what's out there that would work?

Well that quad core is still quite decent nowadays, if you have any spare RAM slots it'd be a good idea to get 2 more gigs for a total of 8GB

Just make sure your system is the regular Inspiron 546 and not the 546s small form factor otherwise you'll have a very limited upgrade path for a PSU

If it's the regular Insipron 546 with an ATX PSU with dimensions of 150x140x86 mm then it should be fine
Your PSU should be a regular ATX form factor as long as your system is the regular 546 and not the 546s so most PSUs out there should work fine

Corsair's CX builder lineup is rather entry level, though it's still a decent unit made by CWT

Given how many cards are out of stock might as well stick with getting an r9 270

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon R9 270 2GB Video Card ($179.99 @ Microcenter)
Power Supply: Corsair Builder 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($29.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $209.98
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

But really, what's your CPU? the 270 would be a waste if you have an old core 2 duo

Let me rephrase I don't need a new 300 watt psu. I need a psu with higher wattage than my stock 300, along with a graphics card to go along with it and don't know what to buy that would work on my system for todays FPS gaming
Links would be a mega help!

CPU: AMD Phenom 2 x4 945 quad core
RAM: 6GB
I play stuff like

Arma 3
HL2
CSS
DODS
