Inspiron Mini 10 1010 Lost Xp product key

I have Xp installed on my Inspiron Mini 10 1010 but lost product key when computer crashed. When I start up computer it starts up with windows Xp then asks for product key. I have had this a while and lost the key. Can I buy a new copy and use that key or does it have to be the original number. I don't want to spend money if it won't work.

Nope, it can be a different product key from a different disc and what not, whatever you're thinking, it doesn't matter. Any new product key you may buy or use will work
You don't have to buy a new copy of Windows Xp entirely, but maybe just the key itself online somewhere

You could also try software like Nirsoft's ProduKeys to see if you can retrieve it in the OS
