Instalation of windows 7

I am building a new pc so and I need to install windows. My friend has original cd but I heard that I need some windows product key. Can I install windows right away or I need to get product key and how?

Yes, but when it asks the product key choose "Enter product key later" windows will install just as fine and after installation you can use windows perfectly for the next 30 days.

You will be asked to enter a product within the 30 day trial period when you have entered it windows will be activated just like your friend or anyone else. If you don't enter it within the 30 day period some features windows will not be usable like wallpapers, few security options etc.

to put it simple u can get the dvd from the friend and choose the enter key later option then buy a key then activate it later on.

Are you a student? You might be able to get a student discount.

There is no 'free'.
