Install SSD in an HP ZT3000?

Hello,

Have an older laptop, HP zt3000 CTO DN545AV, running painfully slow to the point it is unusable.
Formatting the HDD and reinstalling the OS - does nothing.
Considering replacing the HDD with an SSD.

Would appreciate your help with:
1) Does this laptop support SATA II (3Gb/s)?
2) Will 64GB suffice?
3) any other recommendation?

Just learned that the laptop's interface is EIDE.
Is there a way to install an SSD into this laptop?
