install win 8.1 on a fresh H.D on notebook P.C THAT Crashed.

MY notebook pc'c H.D crashed, i purchased new one .installed it, but have no recovery partion as it was on hd that crashed.i need to reinstall win 8.1, called Aesus the manufacturer,they said call Microsoft i did, MS Gave me link to reinstall but i found its an upgrade link. my serial NO is embedded on Motherboard,how do i install ?should they not sent bootable win8.1 link.

Call Asus again and ask to purchase your "factory restore" or "recovery" disk set this time. The OEM version they use has no support from MS and even if you had the code you would not be able to use it to download the retail version.
