[SOLVED] Install windows 10 on external SSD while keeping a backup windows 10 on HDD

I would like to install win10 on the external SSD, and keep another copy of win10 on the HDD. Is it possible?

I would use the SSD win10 all the time, but, in case something happens to the SSD, I would like to be able to still use the laptop with the win10 that's on the HDD.
I also want to keep my data on the HDD, and only use the SSD for the OS and maybe some games for the extra performance.

There's a catch: Opening this laptop is very complicated and error prone.
This is why I bought an external SSD in the first place, so all the tutorials that suggest to unplug the HDD are not viable for me.

Solution
What is the make/model of your laptop?
That will determine the type of ssd you can buy.
Normally, you can find a youtube video on how to open upp the laptop.
The easy way which I have done many times is to use a samsung ssd and use the ssd migration app.
You copy windows to a usb attached ssd and then replace the HDD.
Your original HDD with windows is kept as a backup.

Windows does not like to boot from a removable drive for security reasons.
It would be difficult to do.
Past that using a USB interface will be abysmally slow.

You can not separate apps from windows.
I think you are going to have to learn how to work inside the laptop or buy an easier to service laptop.
