Install windows 8.1 on a usb stick

I have a samsung 5 series computer, where the hdd connector is broken. This mean that I have no internal storage. Is it possible to install windows 8.1 on a usb stick and run it from that usb on my computer?

I know it is a program that do this, but it requiers an internal storage to install drivers and such.
I have also checked for a new motherboard, but it is way to expencive.
All help is much appriciated.
 


You can do it with any version of 8 using the right tools. One is RMPrepUSB, another is WinToUSB, and there are others, plus a skilled technician can do it by hand following the guides and assorted tools. 8.1 now requires a Virtual Hard Drive (VHD) on the USB stick whereas 8.0 didn't although it can still boot EUFI as long as the boot loader is directed to the VHD.
