I have been searching the whole Internet and found no answer, hope sb help ...
I bought a new SSD for my laptop which was to be installed into my laptop. I decided to do a clean install using the recovery media created from my HDD. I have done this once before and it worked fine. But this time when I use my recovery media, when I clicked the reset option, it said it can not restore because it lacked the necessary partition. But I remember that I did the same thing once before and worked fine. How come it failed this time? I haven't done the same things for a long time. Is that I missed any steps or I did the whole things wrong? Hope to get a quick response as I need to use my laptop in a moment🙁

Unless you had a pirated version, it should work using the proper install media. If it still gives you issues you can check with lenovo on how to extract the oem key and manually type it in after install.

Days? God no. Installing the OS, drivers, and major software (office, antivirus, etc) should take no more than a few hours. Leave the machine doing the ~100 or so updates overnight and you'll be done in less than 24 hours.

I have tried this before, however there seemed to be a problem in recognizing my OEM license key, and in this way I have to manually install all the drivers which can take days to finish...
Sorry to be stubborn, but I really can confirmed that my method should be, but in reality not working. I have checked many threads in this forum and on lenovo's forum and windows 8 forum, there are successful cases, not to mention my previous experience.
Anyway thank you for your input.

Refresh installs only work for the installed disk. You bought a new disk, so a refresh install won't work and a clean install is needed.
