I want to install xp on my desktop using USB.I tried to create Boootable USB using winto flash but get te folwoing when run the setup :"Window has detected that your C:Drive is corrupted. Setup cannot repair files". I hav efound one workaround but not sure it will work :

when it asks where to install windows (leave partition or format from fat to ntfs)

press ESC
this then loads screen to select harddrive and partition to install windows.. when you look closley the USB wants to install to the USB not to the netbooks harddrive

I stheer any other alternative. My option is t install only from USB

Solution
Additionally, Windows Setup will never show any USB storage devices anyway, so what you are seeing (leave partition or format from fat to ntfs) must refer to the hard drive. At that stage, you must reformat that partition before Windows can be installed on it. You can do that from within Windows Setup by following the on-screen prompts.

But as I said, Factory Recovery is the way to go, not installing Windows from scratch via USB (unless the Factory Recovery partition is missing or corrupted).
You won't see the option to install Windows on the hard drive until you delete the existing Windows partition that's on it, then create a new empty partition in that unallocated space.

Having said that, however, your netbook should have a hidden Factory Recovery Partition on the hard drive which returns your netbook to the state it was in when new (Fresh Windows & all drivers installed).

So you need to run Factory Recovery instead of making it harder than it needs to be by trying to install Windows from scratch which would mean you'd have to manually find & install all the drivers yourself.
