Hey.

When I try to install XP or 2000 I get a similar errors. Here's what it says:

*** STOP: 0X000000D1 (OXC72E0D87, 0X00000002, 0X00000001, 0XBFEFEB22)

*** Address BFEFEB22 base at BFEF9000, Datestamp 38497754 - atapi.sys

I was getting weird blue screen errors saying:
*** STOP: 0x0000001E (0XC000001D, 0XA0018CFB, 0X00000038, 0X00000000) KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
before randomly in Windows, but they seem to have stopped.

My system setup is as follows:
Asus P2B motherboard
Pentium 2 - 400mhz CPU
1 stick - 64 meg PC133 RAM
1 stick - 128 meg PC133 RAM
Asus 8X DVD-ROM
Asus 50X CD-ROM
LG 12x8x32 CD-RW
Western Digital 45gig 5400RPM HD
DLink 528TX 10/100 PCI NIC
ATI 4 meg AGP Video card

I'm not sure if this is related, but I had a Soundblaster PCI128 soundcard in there, and it started to mess up....like the sound would sometimes completely mess up and all i would hear is scratching and beeping and hissing.

So I replaced it yesterday with a PCI512, and it didnt work too great either. Any time I tried to modify anything from the control pannel or device manager, it would slow down my system like mad.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I posted in here before, and people told me to test memory. I did a test for like 15 hours (i know, too long), and no errors came up.

Thanks in advance,
Adam.

Why change the memory? The memory will work but only at pc100.

Did you try running the install with only one of the 2 sticks of memory installed? Different sized/type/brand memory working in the same system can sometimes cause errors like this, and mismatched memory will NOT usually bring up errors in a memory test.

Those errors that you get can be attributed to unstable memory. That's why people keep mentioning it.
Edited by Novakain on 01/04/02 08:03 AM.
