Installation of RAM

i have seen in above posts that we should install two RAM stick either in 1&3 or in 2&4 slots present on mother board.
can u plz explain y we install ram in such manner??

you can install the ram in either 1-3 or 2-4.

when you install the rams like than then due to dual channel operation your systems performance increases by 10%. Dual channel modules decreased the system latency, in much more simpler manner the timing delays that inherently occur with one memory module.one controller reads and writes data while the second controller prepares for the next access, hence, eliminating the reset and setup delays that occur before one memory module can begin the read/write process all over again.

make sure you have the two ram identical in al aspects, same memory, frequency, etc
