So i just upgraded my gpu from an AMD HD7850 to an nvidia GTX970.
The card works fine but booting the pc takes a lot of time considering i have an ssd and normally i boot in about 15 seconds, instead now i boot in about a minute or so. When i boot my computer it does not even show the motherboard logo anymore, it freezes in the Power On Self Test process and after a while, the screen turns all buggy for half a second and finally windows starts loading leaving me no time to access the BIOS. Even if i spam the Bios access button it does not do anything. I doubt it has to do with the drivers but I have uninstalled all amd drivers and have the latest nvidia drivers. I'm on Windows 7, my motherboard is an MSI 990XA-GD55.
I will provide a video showing the behaviour of the computer when it boots if needed.

Hmm, shouldn't be a power problem since it was okay with the 7850. Might be something simple/stupid like the card isn't completely in the slot. You could try reseating it. Also, you hooked up both the 6pin and 8pin aux power's to the 970 right? Or it could even be a bad card, I've had something similar happen with an older Nvidia (9800) and it turned out to be a hardware problem with the video card. Any chance you have a spare PC you could put it in to see if it happens on that PC too?

Power connectors are secured as well as the graphics card in the slot. And no sadly i've only got one computer to test it in. I didn't mention i also tried resetting the CMOS but it's no use i still keep getting stuck in the POST.
Also the card does not seem to be bad, i gamed for about 3 hours on it and tested it with kombustor. It would seem like the problem is with the motherboard and not the graphics card itself.

Okay so it turned out to be the motherboard's BIOS conflicting with the new card. I had to buy a new motherboard because it was too outdated. If you have a fairly new model and encounter this problem just try to update your bios.
