My old graphics card recently crapped out. The vram nosedived to 128 mb, making gaming impossible. So, I installed a new graphics card, but my vram didn't budge. The computer recognizes the card, and the correct drivers are installed, and the card's fans spin, but the vram isn't recognized.
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87-D3HP
Old card: R9 280x
New card: RX 580
Any ideas?

How are you monitor gpu vram? Try gpuz.

Not meaning to insult your intelligence but if vram is correct reading 128mb that sounds like igpu (integrated graphics) is being used. Only possible reason for that is the video cable isn't connected to the graphics card and instead to the motherboard. Can happen to anyone since there can be multiple video ports these days.
