So, i've gotten an nvme ssd. I installed it by removing the standoff, which I thought was just the screw to hold it in place, then screwing it down with the standoff at an angle. Rather than being level with the motherboard, the far side is pressed down against the standoff hole. Yes, i'm an idiot.

The drive is working as advertised, so it's not broken yet. My question is will it break in the very near future? Do I even need to order a screw to place it on the standoff properly? Should I order one and remove it in the meantime?

You absolutely need to fix that. The amount of pressure you're putting on the port is not good in the long run.

Like you said it should totally be horizontal.

On the picture below you can see that on the board there is one small screw/standoff under the standoff and the small m.2 screw. Whatever your board has you really need to get this drive horizontally :)

Thank you. It will be a day or two before I get the screw. I've already been using the drive as is for about a week, so I assume it's not going to explode before then? Or should I remove it right now?
