Hello, the question is in the title. I have started my first build and like the idiot I am I installed the CPU without the CPU-socket cover, despite it saying that it is required when installing the CPU.

I haven't tested out if the CPU works but could it possibly be damaged?

Thanks in advance.

Solution
The only way you could damage your cpu is if you had to "force" it to sit in the cpu socket. If it slipped right in, you should be good to go.

Don't worry, as long as none of the pins are bent, you should be fine. The cover should pop out when are about to mount the CPU, it is likely a misprint\bad translation.

Yep, I'm talking about the plastic cover that comes with the motherboard. I already installed it without using it. I'm just asking if there is a possibility that I could have broken it in the process.
Mobo: Asus Maximus VI Hero
CPU: i5 4670k

That's not good news at all for me. I'll have a look at it tomorrow.
Thanks

I'll try to boot it up tomorrow and see if its working perfectly. Thanks for the help.
