installed microsoft office student 2007 on windows 10 but does not run properly

I have Microsoft office 2007 student edition. It installed on my desktop running windows 10 home just fine. On my dell laptop that runs windows 10 professional it installed but when I have an excel document it saves as a webpage. If I can finally open it and try to change type of document when saving it, its fine on my computer but can't email it to anyone. Is there an update or patch? Or is a permanent compatibility issue because it is windows 10 professional (rather then home)

On my personal laptop i have Office 97, and Hoyle Casino from 1996 and they work fine.

I suspect the installation went bad. Reinstall it.

Don't use Compatibility Mode it really doesn't work.

That sounds like user error. Does it actually save it as a .html or .htm file by default, or does it simply show the icon for and open with a web browser? I suspect the latter, which is easy enough to fix by simply going to the settings app, clicking system, then default apps. From there, "set defaults by app" and scroll down to excel, then click on "set this program as default".

If the above fixes your issue, then it was just user error in describing the situation.
