Ok, this is my first time posting so forgive me if this is rough.

Computer is home built.
Msi 7207 ver 2.0 board
3200 CPU, (the one that came with it)
New 1gb vid card, nvidia GeForce gt 420. (This is the problem component I think.)

I installed the video card on the ubuntu 12.04 lts os. Pushed the power on button, now it goes into a boot loop. Removed card, so it would be back where it started, ( worked fine), and now it just goes to an electronic snow screen an doesn't boot.
Reinstalled the video card, snow problem is gone, but still won't boot. Tried reinstalling ubuntu, windows or fedora, all freeze after an initial splash screen for each respective os.
Messed with bios settings, ended up loading optimized defaults. Nothing seemed to work. Please help!

Turned out to be a bad ram chip. Haha. Works fine now. However, when I hook it up using the hdmi, the screen is "too big". Meaning that the edges are cut off. I do not have an overscan setting on the TV to adjust this. And no resolution settings help. Any ideas?
P.s. The card and display are fine using vga.
