I installed a new evga gtx 1080ti ftw3 graphics card into my build, my previous GPU was gtx 780, it was dying for the whole of 2019, and completely died yesterday. I've installed the new gpu by looking at tutorials from youtube but ran into issues.
My current build:
EVGA 600W Bronze PC Power Supply
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO (120mm)
Corsair Carbide Series 200R Compact ATX Computer Case - Black
Asus Z87-A USB 3.0 Motherboard (4x DDR3, ATX, 2x PCI Express 3.0/2.0x16, Intel, 6x SATA 6.0Gbps)

Now initially i tried putting in the 1080ti and for some reason it wouldn't fit, i thought maybe my case was too small and i have to buy a new one. But eventually i somehow got it fit, by moving the other wires that were blocking it slightly to the side. First i had an issue with the metal bit that is on the side, it wouldn't fit, but i still somehow managed to get it done, not sure if it's even correctly installed but it seems like it's fine. Anyhow, i put my case back on after putting all the wires on and i start my PC and it won't turn on, i look down and see red light on the motherboard, as you can see in the picture. So i took the case off and i remember two wires i put them in the third and 4th slot instead of the first two where they initially were. These are the two white colored wires bellow the graphics card. So i did this, and now the PC turned on, i've downloaded the graphics driver just now and am about to install it and see if everything is fine. The red light is no longer showing but i have a feeling i've done something wrong, there might be a power issue and would appreciate any help you can provide. I've uploaded pictures of my graphics card installed, i think it's fitted in correctly but you can take a look aswell. Also some pictures of the inside of my PC, and the red light that appeared on my motherboard. As of this moment there is no red light in my PC, after i swapped the slots of the white wire and the PC turned on. Thanks and sorry if this is in the wrong section, i couldn't find PC support section.

Solution
When I check these pictures, you installed the GPU in the wrong pcie slot (from the #5 picture), you should put the GPU in the 1st pice, because it is the pcie3.0 x16, which is next to the cpu socket.

And I don't know what problem(s) you got, because you said you can power up the pc, and download and install the GPU driver. But you talked about the white wire that we don't know either, you should download the MB manual to read it, make sure what these white wires are, and where you should connect them to.

Keep in mind, like you upgraded the newer GPU with the old MB, usually you will need to update the MB BIOS, if the PC will not boot, but now you can boot the PC so that you don't need to update the BIOS. But keep an eye on your PSU...

But keep an eye on your PSU ( EVGA B1 600W), because it is not good enough for your gtx 1080ti.

Most of the time, when you upgrade the powerful GPU, you should buy the new PSU too. Also you should use the DDU to uninstall the old GPU drvier first, then reinstall the new GPU driver too.
