Installed new Graphics card and POST boot took forever and I can not get into the BIOS

Thanks for taking time to read my post! This is my first post here so I apologize if I break any rules!

I recently purchased a new graphics card and hooked into my rig! One thing that struck me immediately was that it booted considerably slower than before! Only the POST boot though, when it came to the windows screen everything went fast as usual

What I did after it booted to windows:
-I first uninstalled my old graphics card drivers and installed the new ones successfully!
-I then ran CCleaner for the registry stuff.
-Rebooted, still very slow POST boot.
-Tried to enter BIOS several times with different keyboards that have worked for me before.
-I reset the BIOS by unplugging the CMOS battery(still can't get into BIOS and OS wont load(unsurprisingly))

I should probably have tried plugging in my old GPU and tried getting into the BIOS before I reset CMOS but what's done is done!

What I will try asap:
-Plug in old GPU and see if I can get into BIOS to modify some settings.

My questions:
-Could the fact that the POST boot takes forever be that the BIOS waits for my old GPU to respond? In that case should it not have reset after unplugging CMOS battery?
-What else can I try if plugging in old GPU will not let me access BIOS?
-If I plug in my old GPU and get into BIOS what settings might be the cause for slow boot?
-What else can I try if plugging in old GPU lets me access BIOS but any settings there will not help my case?

Thanks in advance!

My rig:
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K
Old GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 660
New GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 980
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H revision 1.0
HDD: WD10EARX 1TB
SSD: Samsung Evo 840 250GB
PSU: BQT E9-CM-580W
OS: Windows 8.1

Updating my BIOS was a last resort since I want to mess upp my motherboard, this time it worked like a charm
reflashed BIOS without any GPU connected, and Was able to boot right into windows after configuring BIOS settings,
plugged in my new GPU and it still boots fast, thx for the help guys!

Hi, not sure if I can followup on this thread with another question, but my problem is similar to the one described above. I had all the HW parts assembled, had installed Windows 10, post was OK.
Then, I tried to update NVIDIA drivers and now I cant get POST anymore. I tried tens of times, replacing cables, removing RAMs, no SSD, after BIOS flashback, CMOS reset, etc. No results so far.
I just wanted to understand if there is connection between NVIDIA driver updates and the computer not POSTing. Is there any way my GPU firmware got corrupted? and how to restore it? Thanks in advance! I need this setup for my work and ASUS support has not been very supportive. I will try NVIDIA (or EVGA) support too.

It is EVGA.
Below is the complete setup:

Motherboard: ASUS X99-E USB 3.1 WS
BIOS: 3502 (if BIOS Flashback did the job correctly - I cant check)
CPU: Xeon E5-2620 v3
RAM: Kingston HyperX 32GB (16GB x 2)
GPU: EVGA GTX1080 FTW
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 G3
Case: Corsair Carbide Airflor 540

Thanks helpstar, I will try to borrow one and replace it.

Also, yes, at least one RAM was always there in my attempts.
I also have tried to boot a single RAM in all available slots. no difference...

By the way the Q-code I am getting is A2 (most of the times) . No screen, but the computer is responding to Ctrl-Alt-Del, at least the Q-code changes.

Why do you think it could be the PSU?

thanks alexoiu, yes I tried with dvi and hdmi, the thing is that
I am getting signal on the monitor but it is a blank screen, no characters, neither mouse pointer.

Also tried to boot with th Sata cable disconnected from SDD, no luck ...

Hi helpstar, yes both 2x8pin are connected. Just tried with windows install media on USB drive. same thing...
I will try to borrow a GPU, my board does not come with integrated graphics. I also tried with different PCI slots.
