Hi,

I recently installed a HyperX Savage SSD 240 gb in my computer. With that it has now started shutting down, sometime it restarts sometimes it shuts down properly. Today it shut down once when I played a game, but after that it just shut down 2 more times when I did nothing more than to be on google chrome.

I got the message "power supply surges detected during previous power on ASUS Anti-Surge was triggered to protect system from unstable power supply unit" one of the latter shut-downs.

So from what I can gather it is a problem with my power supply, which I by the way bought last year. It is a Corsair CX 430 M.

Can anyone tell me if this is connected to my new SSD or something else, I only have 4 gb RAM which got me to think that it might not be able to "handle" a new SSD or so, but I am far from knowledgeable in the area.

Appreciate any help!

A power supply could definitely be a likely culprit. Memory doesn't really have much to do with "being able to handle" storage devices. 4GB is plenty for an average user, however you did mention gaming, and 8GB would benefit you more there - but not in terms of "handling" your SSD. Your power supply would be connected to your SSD so if your power supply is going bad, that explains the restarts. If you're running a higher-end video card, 430W may not even be enough.
