I have my speakers plugged in to the back of my desktop. I have checked on the control panel > Sound, and the speakers are shown as "not plugged in" so I cannot set them as default. All I see is "Realtek Digital Output" and "Realtek Digital Output(Optical)".

I've gone in to my drivers and uninstalled both Realtek and NVIDIA audio, but they reinstall when I start the computer and nothing is fixed.

I have gone in to BIOS. I have a Sabertooth X58 motherboard. There is no option to set Onboard Soundcard Integrated Audio to enabled - that just doesn't exist. All there is, is some option for "High Definition Audio" which is set to enabled.

I'm a computer noob and the fact I installed this graphics card and have it working but for sound to have taken up hours of my time trying to fix is blowing my mind right now. I don't get how my computer isn't registering the speakers are plugged in?

Download Driver Booster 3 and make sure everything is up to date. Also try right right clicking your volume icon in the bottom right hand corner go to Playback Devices, right click, select "Show disabled devices" and "Show disconnected devices".

I've run Driver booster, everything is up to date.

I definitely have disabled and disconnected devices showing. My speakers are shown as not plugged in, and the
"real panel 3.5 mm jack" is shown as empty on despite it definitely being plugged in.

I can't even begin to tell you how annoying of a problem this is to me lol. I don't know what to do for something that seems so simple.
