Installed video card, computer shows POST and then video turns off

Hi all, I hope you can help me with the following problem. I bought a used graphics card Radeon HD 5770. After installing it on the computer, I can see POST for 2-3 seconds and then the video turns off. Windows starts normally -as I can hear windows logon sounds- but yet I get no video whatsoever.
I thought it was a PSU issue, so I bought a Overtech 600 watts PSU, but yet I get the same problem.
Then I was wondering if maybe it was a BIOS issue and there was a BIOS update which could solve it. There were not, the BIOS has the latest version.
As a last option, I thought probably the video card was damaged, so I tested it in another computer with a 600 watt PSU. It worked flawlessly.
So I have no idea why this video card works only for a couple seconds in my computer. Do you have any idea? Thanks in advance

Do you have the monitor cable connected to the video card or the motherboards integrated graphics port ? The reason for asking is that there are many that come here for help and find out the connected the monitor cable wrong.

Does the card require a 6 pin power cable ?

Thanks for your answer. Yes, I connected the monitor to the video card. Anyway, if I connected it to the IGD, I would see no video whatsoever, since the PCI Express port is selected as primary display in BIOS setup, would I?
But what disconcerts me is that I see POST on the video card for a couple seconds... With the monitor on the video card, of course. Then the video disappears.
By the way, yes, the card requires a six pin power cable.
And there's an update. Just borrowed a Radeon HD 6790 and tried it in this computer... And it works flawlessly. So is this a motherboard compatibility issue? If yes, is there no solution? Only replacing the motherboard? Waiting for your next answer. Thanks.

solved, the solution was resetting the BIOS by removing the battery. Thanks for your help, inzone

Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier as I had to go out , when I got back you had solved it. Interesting that you had to reset the bios , were you previously using a different card or the integrated ?

Before installing this video card, I was using integrated graphics. As you said, it's weird that the card worked after resetting the BIOS. I guess maybe the BIOS is corrupted or something, because after resetting it, I was able to enter to setup with te video card installed (I couldn't get to this point prior to resetting, the video would turn off before I could get to setup) but the computer would freeze on BIOS setup. I rebooted again and it froze on MSI logo with an endless beep. Then, I reset the bios again and turned on the computer. At this point, it worked flawlessly, I was able to install drivers and try some games. Otherwise I guess it would make no sense that I had to reset the bios in order to make the video card work.
But notice that before installing the card, I set the PEG port as primary display and IGD as secondary, so that wasn't the problem... Absolutely weird.
