Installed Win 10, having black screen with no cursor

Hi,

bought the HP Notebook 17-p100nm yesterday. Today installed Win 10, restarted it and got the black screen. No cursor, no logo, no anything.

Tried the Win key + B key + power button, but all I get is a black screen asking to press the ESC and when I do nothing happens.

Any ideas?

i don't understand, you got laptop yesterday and had to install win 10 on it yourself today? I would have thought it came pre installed

sounds pretty bad, i would take back to store and get them to fix it. Its 1 day old.

You can imagine my frustration. It was suppose to be the birthday present for my father. Anyhow, the pre-installed version doesn`t come with the recovery disc, that`s the problem and I can`t think of anything which would help. Will check the link you gave me. Thanks.

its likely to have a recovery partition and a built in program that you can access from start up. I think i read that much in the link

Nope, nothing there. That "press ESC" just stands there like a duck.

i would contact hp support and get it fixed/replaced. its one day old.

I can turn it off completly with the power button or kind of turn it on, using that Win+B+power. And then I`m back to the black screen with this nice "Press the ESC key for Startup menu", which, as you know, does nothing when I press it.
