After the install of windoes it used almost all the storage on my intel optane 16gb and now nothing else will install and windows wont update as there is not enough space, I also had a 2tb hdd installed but all the windows files are on optane. Please help
Right, you meant to use them as a cache drive, not as the install drive location. No way will Win 10 work in 16gb or even the 32gb model. You put windows on the hdd.
I don't know what method it uses to do it though as its so new I can't see anything about it, the old cache drives used Intel Rapid storage technology, I could guess the new one does as well.

Admittedly I have not put my hands on Optane tech either but its my understanding that the BIOS on the board handles the caching. So you first have to have a mobo that supports Optane, then add an Optane SSD to the m.2 connector, then configure Optane caching in the BIOS (or maybe it just auto-detects the Optane SSD and turns it on for you). But after that Colif is absolutely correct. You install to your HDD like you normally would. All the magical caching happens in the background.

We may but honestly, from the articles I've read, it doesn't make performance all that much better. With the price of SSDs constantly coming down it makes Optane less compelling also. For a few bucks more than an Optane SSD you can grab a 128GB SSD to install your OS drive on and keep you large spinning disk for your file storage.
Caching is hit or miss and will not make your computer perform like its running on an SSD. For writes you may see a consistent boost in performance IF its caching all your writes. However, the great majority of what we do on our machines every day is reading, and data has to be pulled from the HDD. Read performance will all depend on what the Optane firmware determines as "frequently used" data for you. Your first read is never going to be any faster. Hopefully it caches a lot of data and will provide benefit. It could prove to be great for game load times. Time and reviews will tell.
i haven't seen much on how big the difference is between optane and ssd yet.
Its more likely to be seen in laptops as all the oem have years worth of hdd to use in laptops and the cache is a nice boost for them to not have to dump the mountains of drives and get ssd just yet.
I won't be rushing out and buying new cpu & motherboard to get the boost.
