installing 1tb seagate hdd

how to install a seagate 1tb sata hdd on my new asrock motherboard..it will not load windows xp .I sent the first hdd back becaue it was asking to check disk for faults.this new one is doing the same thing.

it probably was chkdsk that was checking the hard drive on startup -. it does not indicate hard drive failure especially if you havent reinstalled windows after changing the hard drive. The hard drive was probably not faulty. In many cases windows needs to be reinstalled when changing motherboards because of diffrent chipset

Yeah. You have to head to the BIOS and format the drive. Then you can just install Windows regularly.

most bioses dont have the option to format a hard drive. instead you can format the hard drive when installing windows choose custom

Oh. Sorry. I thought that if mine could do it to SSDs it might work for hard drives.

some uefi can do it but motherboards with basic bios usually dont have this option. he has windows xp therefore i assume that he is using older motherboard
