hi,

i am just starting out with network admin, and for learning purposes i
have been trying to install windows 2000 server (msdn disc 2427.1 -
current subscription) on a virtual machine & virtual hard disc with
ntfs, but installation keeps hanging.

initially, i thought that the missing files ntoskerl, kernel32 and so
on needed to be installed on a previous version of windows - eg 2000
pro.

so i installed windows 2000 pro successfully, but when i went to
upgrade it to the 2000 server the same thigns happened. blue stop
screen and kernel32 again at fault.

any ideas of what i have to do? my end target is to finally install
win2003 server on the virtual machine.

and secondly, when i abandoned the server setup, the virtual machine
went to a dual boot system showing the "windows 2000 pro" and "windows
2000 server setup" - i think to disable this i simply need to modify
the boot.ini in the winnt directory - am i right?

thanks for your help
