installing 2tb hitachi sata drive into HP 8200 elite SFF

i dropped a 2tb hitachi sata hard drive into my hp 8200 elite SFF computer. however...i cannot get the BIOS to "see" the new drive. could be a bad drive...got it off ebay. but before i send it back...would like some professional insight into the problem. thanks in advance for your time!

If you have both data and power cables plugged in then it should work. You should be able to feel it spinning when you power on the pc and it should not make any strange clicking noises. Other then that 2tb drives are known to work fine in the 8200 so the drive is defective or incompatible.

A review in this refurb from staples lists the 2tb drive as a hitachi model. So its beginning to like like a defective drive.
