Installing a 960 Evo m.2

Hi, I don't have my motherboard box anymore (It is in storage, 2000 miles away) and therefore don't have the screws I need to tighten down the m.2 card I just purchased. I should've done my research before buying it, but meh. My question is this: Do I need to absolutely tighten it down, or is it fine if it's hanging loose?

I wouldn't trust one hanging loose. Mine didn't appear to really "stick" in the slot when I put it in so the screw was necessary. If it were to fall out while the system was powered on it could fry the SSD and possibly mess up your motherboard as well.

You really need to tighten it down, having it hanging loose could cause it to lose contact with the motherboard, best case just dropping the connection, worse case causing shorts and breaking the SSD or the motherboard.

It should not be too difficult to get a screw that will fit.

Internet consensus seems to say an M2 x 3mm screw will work. You can pick up those at any hardware store, and many big box stores.

If you didn't done that yet, I would check if it is not installed already on motherboard? Cos mine was.
