Installing a DDR5 graphics card into a ddr3 motherboard

I am upgrading from and AMX radeon hd 5570 to a MSI N580GTX Twin Frozr II.

I have a few questions. First off I see that this ddr5 card will fit into my ddr3 motherboard slot and is confirmed by:

I already test fitted the graphics card, It requires 2 6 pin pci express cables when I only have 1. I have an 8 pin which I can convert to the 6, or will be splitter the 1 6 pin pci into two be okay?
The the overall question is how do I get the newer card to work. I want to make sure the graphics card gets enough voltage. I am getting very confused on what part to buy.

So the additional questions is what do I need to do prep wise, uninstalling the old drivers from AMD and the catalyst control center, get new drivers for the MSI. I got the MSI card from a friend and don't have a clue on this entire process. I am basically trying to run higher end games

What psu exactly? Not a fan of psu adapters, but if the gpu takes two 6-pin and your psu has one six and one eight then converting the 8 to 6 should work. Check the 8 close - is it a 6+2 that can be separated?

Edit: best thing to remove old driver is DDU in safe mode.

I have an 8 pin that can be converted to 6 along with the 6 pin. I talked to a friend of mine and he said the computer tech split his 8 pin into 2 6 pins and that is what the graphics card came with. I test fitted everything and no the 8 pin can't be easily separated, it would need to be converted to a 6. Will 550 watts be enough as well? I am not accustomed the the abbreviations:

What is DDU safe mode, sorry I am new to all of this.

I did as you said. I had a friend explain why I would have to run this in safe mode. Basically you want all remnants of the old drivers gone, because your p.c. will still be looking for the old graphics card. At what point do I put in the new graphics card then?

Could you be more precise in the steps? Please correct me if I am wrong.

1. DDU uninstaller in safemode, found the link download and run in safemode
2. power down, put in new graphics card put on adapter on the 8 pin to convert it to six pin, plug in that and the regular six pin to the graphics card after seating it and screwing it fast
3. power up the pc, the pc should recognize the new card since the old graphics drivers are gone.
What happens if the pc doesn't recognize the new card? And what is the minimum power supply needed for this card? A friend of mine told me if the current power supply isnt enough to get an external one for the graphics card.
Am I missing anything. I can list my rig if needed as well.
