Im repairing an HP pavilion P7-1512. Part of the motherboard was taken out by a power surge and it will not display anything, even with adding a basic gpu and plugging video cable into that instead of the board. So, an exact motherboard is more than what its worth for this computer, i can get a micro atx board that is the same socket (lga1155) and use the old hard drive(which is fine) and a new power supply i bought and the old ram and cpu. Find quite a few micro atx boards for cheap, so how what mods would i need to do in order to make power switch and leds on front of case work?

I did the same for an older model ((Can't remember the model at the moment)), but you shouldn't need to mod anything. I know I didn't. Just take note of what connectors are which. The OEM board that came in the one I upgraded actually had all the front panel connectors on the motherboard labelled, while the connectors on the case itself were not. So you just may need to write down the corresponding connector types to the colours.
