installing a new hard disk

So here is the thing, I am assembling a new pc. The Harddisk got delivered quickly than the other components. So I installed it in my older, created new partitions, and put some files into it. However When all the components arrive I will use the new hdd only. So During installing the windows(10 pro x64) will the data i saved be erased, or will be there as it is. (I have left the first partition in the new disk empty. )

Do not do what you did. Wait till the computer is there, put in the drive, create the partitions you want during Windows 10 setup then. After that is done, copy the files from the old computer.
