Installing A New RAM Stick

Hey there,
I've got a Dell Inspiron 560 with 4 1gb RAM sticks. I wanted to upgrade so I used NewEgg's Memory finder to search for compatible memory sticks. They referred me many different ones but I decided on this 8gb ram stick:

When it finally arrived I removed all other RAM sticks and put the 8gb ram stick into slot one. Considering that I only need 8gb of ram I wouldn't need the other sticks. When I go to turn the computer on it begins to beep.

This is my very first time replace/upgrade my PC, so any basic information would be very useful.

your motherboard may not accept 8gb sticks , can you give me the make and model of your motherboard to see if this is the case

I managed to grab some "Main Circuit Board" information:

as you can see by the specs , your motherboard will take a maximum of 8gb of memory in total.
Your motherboard will accept memory speeds of up to 1333 mhz
As far as i can tell your motherboard does not have support for XMP which enables automatic overclocking of memory to the memory profiles set speed
if you put the ADATA XPG V1.0 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) stick of ram in your motherboard , which is 1600mz , this is a faster
speed than your board will accept so your motherboard will downclock the 1600mhz ram to its maximum speed of 1333mhz so it will not work at 1600mhz , your motherboard may not accept 8gb ram sticks and that could be why it is beeping.
You could try the stick in different slots to see if you can get the board to accept it , but if it does not then this may be why.
i would suggest that for the 8gb ram that you want , to get your board working that you would be better off getting 2x4gb of 1333mhz so your board can work with dual channel rather than a single stick of memory
Corsair/gskill/mushkin/crucial/kingston are ale reputable brands of memory and come with a lifetime warranty.
