I currently have an Asus STRIX Z270F with a Samsung 960 EVO 500GB connected to the M.2 slot furthest away from the CPU. I now plan on buying an additional EVO (1 TB version this time) which I plan to place in the other M.2 slot closest to the CPU.
I remember reading a while back that some motherboards cannot run M.2/PCI-E at full speed with certain configurations, so I'm a little hesitant to go ahead and buy an additional one.
So my question is: will having both M.2 SSDs installed limit their speed in any way?
Only one of the PCI-E slots is currently being used (x16 occupied by a GTX 1080 Ti). I'm likely going to SLI my 1080 Ti in the future so I also wonder if this might have any affect on speeds?
Thanks,
E
