Yes you can have both. I suggest installing the SSD either by cloning or installing windows with only the SSD installed. windows may put needed files on the HDD and that is bad, do not give it the option. after windows is installed you can connect the drive and set it up as secondary storage. you may need to import the drive in disk management if it shows as foreign.
a word on grounding while working inside of a PC.
Canned Grounding Rant-
shut down system and remove side panel. with the power cable plugged into the PSU touch a bare unpainted metal area of the case. (my favorite spot is an unpainted screw securing the PSU) once you have grounded yourself you can unplug the computers power cable from the PSU and can touch the system.
if you move your feet, or shuffle in your chair, plug in the cord, reground yourself and unplug again.
