Installing a SSD for games. NEED HELP!!

So basically, I have all of my steam games installed and running off of my current HDD. I just recently bought a 250GB SSD that I want to run just some of my steam games off of. Do I need to install an operating system onto the SSD in order for it to run the few games I want to play while still having my HDD plugged in or does having the HDD with the OS on it make it so all I have to do is re-install my games I want onto the SSD. All I want the SSD to do is run some of my games, and I want my HDD to still have all of my files and stuff on it, including Windows. Can anyone clear this up for me?

If you uninstall steam, you can re-install it and set its default directory to be the new SSD. Then you can install your games and they will all go to the 2nd SSD instead of your C: Drive.

Unfortunately they don't have a way to simply install Steam games on multiple drives.

Nope, just make yourself a games folder on the ssd. Copy the games you want to it and then add the folder to steam game library. You can delete the original games after you verify they copied to the ssd ok.

Correct. I did this before as I had a small 60GB SSD I used as my boot drive, and a larger HDD I used for games.

You may want to re-install windows on your SSD as all programs basically would get a speed boost in loading, but if you don't want to and want to save as much space for games as possible you can just install steam on the SSD and use it solely for games.

You can also use Steam Mover to transfer specific games. You will need to create a folder on the SSD where you will keep the game files and Steam Mover will take care of the rest. I have used it without issue to move games back and forth between my SSD and HDD.
