Hi, I apologise if this is in the wrong section of the forum.

Here's the situation:

I have a Samsung 850 Evo 250Gb SSD that I want to install internally in my system. I'm waiting on a bracket which should be arriving today so I can fit it into the 3.5" bay. I currently have a 1Tb HDD installed. I would like to have Windows 10 and what I currently have on my HDD to be transferred to the SSD, which I assume is easily achieved by using the Samsung migration software. I'm not too tech savvy, Windows 10 was a free upgrade. I use my computer mainly for gaming. I'd like to have a couple games installed and running from the SSD. In the meantime, I'd like to use the current 1Tb HDD as extra storage.

I was planning on transferring everything from my HDD to my SSD, replacing the HDD with the SSD and having the HDD as an external hard drive.

Is it better to keep the HDD installed in my system or take it out and use it as an external drive? Would I need to reformat the drive? If I needed to reformat, how would I go about doing that?

If you need specs, let me know.
Thanks for any help.
