Installing BG on Windows XP

I'm having trouble installing BG on a new Windows XP box. When I
insert the disk, I get a menu as usual. Nothing seems to happen after
I click the install button.

Does anybody have any ideas what might be happening, or how I can
diagnose this further?

I've just installed BG1 and 2 on XP myself with no problems. Perhaps
your CD is unwell?
