Installing black plate help.

I have a I7 8700k and I just bought a evga clc 280 with my aorus gaming 5 motherboard I am installing the black plate for intel and it goes in fine but when i put the screws in the front of the motherboard it is loose and the bracket slides back and forth and I cant tighten it anymore, is that normal? I cant imagine it is

Not sure about your exact cooler but many coolers have backplates that aren’t fixed completely in place until the cooler is tightened down. I have a Cryorig H7 Quad Lumi and i can easily move the backplate up and down half an inch or so until the tower is screwed down.
