Hello

I have a Medion Akoya E6239 (MD98844).

It has 4gb of installed memory and an empty slot, I have purchased an additional 4gb of DDR3L-1600 SODIMM memory however when I install it the laptop will switch on, I get a blue power light but nothing else happens, it doesn't boot or anything.

When I open back up and remove the new memory it starts fine.

Any suggestions on a fix? The empty slot is the other way round to the used slot so I have to install the new memory upside down, not sure if that is the issue?

Have you tried only new memory?
The thing that you might not have done before buying new RAM is check exact same timings and exact same brand if possible, that affects the compability of the both sticks.
Usually CL15 like 15-15-15-28 1T 1866MHz , that should be matched with first stick or buying an kit which is much easier and selling that leftover ram.
