Installing drivers on another installation of windows

It's a long story but basiclly right now I have two installations of windows 7 on two hardrives.

Now one is my originally installation and since I installed a new motherboard because my old one fried I can't boot into this installation. Therefore I need to install a new chipset but I can't do that in the new installation of windows.

Is this possible?

If both drives use the same version of windows, you might be able to use the old drive with the files you need as a secondary drive. Install it while windows is running with your newer windows drive.

So should I just load up windowsPE or something similar and copy over the windows folder and hope it works?

But yea their basically running the same version but obviously the old installation is updated fully
