Hi,

I'm thinking of buying a laptop in Japan (i5 560M, HM55 Express chipset etc. all recent components) and I want to install the copy of English language Windows 7 that I already own.

I'm assuming the components will be recognised the same by windows regardless of language version but is there any reason it might not work?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this.

If the machine is W7 capable - all the right drivers, etc. the only problem could be if your copy of W7 is already registered as having been installed before. At Activation, you might need to assure M$ that it's been put beyond use on the other machine. Also, if it was an Upgrade version, it will only work once.

You might also have a future problem if you ever need to go into BIOS - all those menus will probably remain in Japanese.

Not to mention a laptop bought there will probably have a Japanese keyboard. The AC adapter will most likely be a universal, as many are these days. But you might check to be sure.

Well thanks for the replies. I don't mind if the bios is in Japanese as I can read some. Just worried about driver issues but it seams drivers do not care about language. Just the UI might not show properly.
